Prisoner

I am a prisoner in my own mind—

Forcibly taken and gagged from inside.

My nails dig into the creases of my brain,

As I try to recall the last time I was sane.

I’ve been taken hostage; I’m losing control.

I can’t even think of when I was whole.

Shown no mercy, I’m surrounded by walls.

Consciousness ricochets as my wary voice calls.

My shirt is pulled and I’m placed in ties.

The gallows of my head are my demise.

My head, it spins as my eyes race.

I guess there’s no hope for saving face.

I am a prisoner in my own mind—

Forcibly taken and gagged from inside.
