Can You Hear It?

Our first kiss still lingers on my lips

And still just the thought of you

And my stomach flips.

But now to you I am nothing

Can you hear my heart breaking?

You say you hate me

I say I love you.

They say you love me so much you hate it.

Can you hear my heart breaking?

I run to you

You run away from me.

I am begging to hear your voice.

You are struggling to block out mine.

Can you hear my heart breaking?

I survive by saying your name

You hate anyone who dares to mention mine.

I am fighting to remember you

You are fighting to forget me.

Can you hear my heart breaking?

I have reached the breaking point

And you must admit that you have too.

What did I do wrong?

What can I do to make things right?

I am fighting with all my might.

It seems I have lost this battle.

But I will never give up.

Can you hear my heart breaking?

No you cannot.

It broke a long time ago.

Can you hear your heart breaking?

I think I do.
