Her eyes fill with tears,
As she is forced to face her fears,
And turn her back on the world she once knew.

She walks away from it all,
Her hopes begin to fall,
As her world comes crashing down.

Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust
The metals begin to rust,
And the tears begin to fall.

The woods all rot,
It’s not like she thought,
It wasn’t supposed to end this way.

She watches through tear veiled eyes,
A baby in the distance cries,
As her world come to an end.

She walks the empty streets,
A flag in the wind beats
A soft marching tune.

Her steps falter,
As she comes across an alter,
And a new wave of sadness washes over.

Houses tumble,
Walls crumble,
The wind tousles her hair.

She stares and stares,
Finally understanding that someone cares,
Despite the destruction.

The End
