InsurmountableMature

Have you ever been
so haplessly in love
so it’s dangerous
and you crave
so many things
you crave
their tongue
under the moon
and their fingertips
in the morning sun
their laugh
for every star
you crave
simple things
and grand things
you crave
a grin
ear to ear
in the back
of a dark move theatre
and your hands
haven’t separated
since 20 minutes before
the movie even started
though that isn’t
quite true
you’ve been inseparable
since 2:36 am
and you woke up
and once again
it wasn’t
a dream
and he quelmed
the tear
in your eye
and tucked you
closer
“dear,”
you said,
“it’s as much
reality
as it was
three weeks ago
and every
odd weekend
before that.”
kissing my neck,
and taking me
back to sleep.
hopeless,
you think,
you aren’t sure
how else
you can possibly describe
falling
in the first place.
his breathing
calms you
and you remember
a Sunday morning
warm
and quiet
and his arms
tightened around you
then,
you didn’t know,
he was still
asleep
you giggle
at 1:56 am
thinking
of his voice
telling you
goodnight
throwing yourself
on your bed
staring
at your ceiling
the biggest smile
on your face
and you can’t stop
the excited
punches
to the air
kicking your legs
thinking
of how in love
you are
and it consumes
your whole body
in an endless
a boundless
joy
overflowing,
really,
but all you care about
is hearing him laugh
and kissing him
every second
you should have.

The End
