Night Terrors

I burrow down beneath my blankets
retreating from the cold world above
and into the dark world below...
There seems to be no escape.
No light can reach me.
Nothing comes to solace me
only the shadows of the night
which claw upon my bedsheets...
I tuck my head to hide from the fear,
wishing I had but one thing.
One thing to keep me safe...
Then I feel it's soft embrace.
I cuddle the teddy close as he says:
"You're not alone, I'll protect you here."

The End
