Blood Summer

Blood, sand, earth and bones,

Amber and crimson, sky's evening tones,

Rotting flesh beneath the clay,

Golden evening devours the day,

Thistles, thorns, welt soft pale skin,

Willows cry and bow their heads in sin,

Dry earth chokes twisted roots,

Dew sparkles and dilutes,

Owls wrap talons around their half-dead prey,

Sunlight deepens past blood and fades away.

The End
