Fake Warmth
We left the heater on
So I dreamt of you two
Acting together as one
Acting how you should
Acting like in love
Happiness surged through me
And I thought about the beauty
I thought it all was real
Until I awoke
And heard the sounds
Of the heater in the room
Of the rain directly outside
Of my breath in the warm air
And I knew
The heater showed me a lie
The warmth is too artificial
Though it all seemed so real
It was fake
You’re really just as cold
As the rain outside
You’re as fake
As the heater in the room
That warmed my senses
And filled me with lies.
