Icy Air

It’s all different now

It’s not yelling or fighting

It’s lifeless, cold as ice

They speak tiredly

Annoyed and bothered

By the other’s presence

Disregarding each other

Behind backs they gossip

Like it’s middle school

I think about going back there

Snide comments over and over

Pounding my head

Hurting my ears

Wetting my eyes

I can only ask

As I step out into

The crisp winter air

Why the air here

Feels the same as inside.

The End
