Blackberry Picking

Reaching between cane and leaf
Touching the ripening fruit
Hoping it will fall
Into the palm of my hand

Fingers and tongues stained
Purple with juice
As laughter and birdsongs
Linger in cool evening breezes

Our summer has begun
Marked by this
Seasonal tradition
With acres to explore

We are not alone
Insect and mammal alike
Searching for perfection
Plump and sun kissed

The End
