Black Sails

When people try to make a good life for themselves, but just find themselves corrupted. A poem for those who feel hopeless

The skies are grey with sorrow

ravens spread their wings and fly away

the autumn breeze carries bitter words on it's lips

and hatred stems from those who've lost their way

Blackened skies, filled with smoke

Only the strong-willed endure

while the rest of us suffocate and choke

Let the oceans see you home

keeping you steady as you roam

Fragile, my heart will shatter like glass

caught in a storm, my soul is thrashed

Seeing the future through a raven's eyes

when destiny is corrupted

sorrow has the power to paralyse

The hands that reach for a solution

aching to climb onto a sailing ship

watch the sails fade into the distance

watch hopelessness devour absolution

Let the oceans see you home

keeping you steady as you roam

Fragile, my heart will shatter like glass

caught in a storm, my soul is thrashed

The skies are red with lust

ravens pick at the flesh and fly away

the hurricane howls malevolent prayers

and evil rises from those corrupted and slayed

Let the oceans see you home

keeping you steady as you roam

Fragile, my heart will shatter like glass

caught in a storm, my soul is thrashed

The End
