Black Rat Hide

This is about a crazy person.

Sally talks to cans.
The echoes produce words
that she can understand.

Her mouth mutters things
that the can repeats
almost instantly.

One day she was disturbed to hear
a nibbling sound
projecting in her ear.

She hoisted the ribbon
of nylon high
only to find

that the ribbon was severed,
and on the other side
was black rat hide.

The other can laid on its side.
No one was around.
She lost her mind.
