Beyond The Road
I was never the strongest, or the first to cross the line
My voice never soared to heaven's ears, or did I outsmart the gods
I never dared to dream or dared to believe
That mine were the dreams that'd be achieved
I knew faces and their judgement damning
Favours exchanged even just to taunt me
I was done in and the weight of the world collapsed around me
Miraculously my honour and strength never broken
Sentenced to misery
Swimming in the rivers of fire, yet unscorched
I will reach beyond the road and the tower
To a glory never seen before
Looking back and now the tide has turned
And I find it is my name that's now revered
I never dared to dream or barely breathe
Memories never erased and wrongs never forgiven
Wiser words turned to falsehood, and now I am king
Blinded to the last, and I was left to the wolves
Shining through and gaining fast, and my blood begins to boil
I came through the fires and now I ascend
Because the self-made prison will fade in the end
Sentenced to misery
Swimming in the rivers of fire, yet unscorched
I will reach beyond the road and the tower
To a glory never seen before
