Away Today

A fright
A flight
Escape this noise
The buzzing that disturbs our poise

A pounding
Sounding
In my head
A clamor that contorts with dread

Away
Today!
To mountains high
To find the silence with a sigh

Through creeks
To peaks
Of crumbled stone
To hopes that I will be alone

But hear!
How queer
The birds who sing
The melody the wind will bring

Heartbeat
Light feet
A wild wolf call
The cries below so far and small

Raindrop
Per-plop!
And thunder roar
The waves that crash on distant shore

 The sound...
Profound
That fills my ears
A symphony to dry my tears

Days end
Descend
To city din
And long to hear the song again

The End
