Mum & Dad

Dad broke his vows far too many a time
And so you fix if it's broke; so they say
But what if it's cruel to be kind
And better to leave what's broke at bay

Mum was battered, emotionally and physically
So she ran for refuge to protect her family
She had always put all before her
How things could have been different had she not carried that mental saboteur

Today the weight has lifted
And although we may never shake what was witnessed
We live with ease knowing that we've survived it
We persisted and are now gifted
With an armor of strength having gone through all that existed

The End
