Contradictions of Lies and Truths

Recommend

They told me
To always tell the lie
To never tell a truth.

But even at 5
I could tell
When they were truthing.

So I learned by example
To only tell the lie
When it was convenient;
And to pepper in
A truth when needed
As long as it was little and white.

As I grew and grew
I found more truths
That weren't so innocent;
But instead deep and dark.

So now when I hear
"Young lady tell me the lie!"
I think
"Why should I;
When you tell me so many truths?"
