Armchair Warrior

Armchair Warrior

What the hell do I know about war?
I’ve never been a soldier before.
I’ve never been on an armed patrol
Aware that my head could be about to roll.
Never been the member of a corps
So what the hell do I know about war.

What the hell do I know about gumption?
I’ve never been up the martial junction.
I’ve never saved a Conrad from near death
Carried them from harm when I could have left.
All I have is my own naive assumption
So what the hell do I know about gumption.

What the hell do I know about guns and bombs?
I’ve only ever held those toy plastic ones.
I’ve never fired a shot or defused a mine
Never taken a bullet bleeding supine.
All I’ve done is write some crap protest songs
So what the hell do I know about guns and bombs?

What the hell do I know about pugnacity?
I’ve never been a fighter and could not train to be.
I’ve never worn a uniform or a beret
I feel grateful but humble on Remembrance Day.
Just a average civilian is all I’ll ever be
So what the hell do I know about pugnacity.

The End
