Another Son Outside Of Paradise

Dealing with a sudden loss, be it a relationship or grieving over a family member.

I carry my sorrows like a battle flag
The standard raised, bloodied and torn
The universe has thrown all of its traumas against me
I’m barely alive
But I never needed to win, I only needed to survive

I raised myself to the point of heaven and beyond
Through love and adrenaline I punched above my weight
But the morning light shone and she was gone
And my perfect reality, my tender world undone

I wear my sins and flaws as battle armour
I am ready to withstand another failure
I’m just another heart to damage utterly
How am I alive
I’ve lost another fragment of myself
Under these blood-red skies

I raised myself to the point of heaven and beyond
Through love and adrenaline I punched above my weight
But the morning light shone and she was gone
And my perfect reality, my tender world undone

Nurtured and schooled in a circle of hell
I know nothing but damage and sacrifice
I’m just another body to destroy
I’m another soul to deny
Another son denied his right
Another son denied paradise

The End
