And So Ghosts Appear

It's about wanting to stay together, but finding neither of you have the strength to carry on fighting

We hold hands, silent, smiling

Wishing we could talk about what's tearing us apart

We're content until the day arrives

Sunlight, cold, opening up the wounds

Wounds we tried so hard to conceal

My eyes gaze longingly upon you

I know the look you give me is the same too

Time and time again we play out the same games

Time and time again we give ourselves to rage

We walk together, under the trees, hopeful

Wishing we could pull ourselves together

But the tears are too real for me to escape

Perhaps we've trapped ourselves

Given ourselves up to this fate

Refusing to let go

The winters are too long without you

I'm broken, a vessel like an empty bottle

I'm feeling older, wearier

Sleep will only play host to dark ghosts

All the while, we're losing ourselves to pity and sorrow

All the time, we despise the prospect of another tomorrow

Under the command of your love I was your guardian

But now I know, I'm no longer strong enough

Refusing to let go

The winters are too long without you

I'm broken, a vessel like an empty bottle

I'm feeling older, wearier

Sleep will only play host to dark ghosts

The End
