Am I Beautiful Yet?

I wanted to write something that reflected the pressures that are put on teenagers to look a certain way, and how photoshopped images that form the basis of most advertising , can play havoc with someone's perception of beauty.

Pale blue eyes,
Framed by darker lashes,
Brighter crimson smiles,
Immaculate lipstick kisses,

Painted-on skin.

Straightened
Dyed
Restrained

Spotlighted locks in a polaroid picture.

False nails
False lashes
False morals

How much does it cost for injections anyway?

Taughter
Thinner
Nipped
Tucked
Sucked

Plastic lips,
Hips,
Breasts,

Proportioned by the finest.

Under the knife again:

Sliced

Diced

Displayed.

Am I Beautiful yet?

The End
