Deeper Cuts

The closer you allow someone to get,
The deeper they can cut you, but don’t you fret.
People don’t attack what treats them well,
We’re living up on Earth, not crawling around in Hell.
That’s why I’ve shown you through the door of my heart,
And find myself screaming as you tear me apart.
I look into your eyes and force you to see,
I can see fear driving you; you won’t let the saviour be me.
I can never hate you, give up the chase,
When you stop running, you’ll see we’re in the same place.
I recoil from the pain, but against my will,
I am dark enough to see your light shining still.

The End
