After the boys

After the boys I'm always there

Lying in the sunlight on the grass, in the sand

Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and the Doors in the rain

     Driving just to drive

After the boys there's time to spare

Swimming as we are in that giant fish bowl

          Watermelon, gingerbread, cupcakes at midnight

     Nowhere else to go

But when the boys are there I'm there too

Wrestling's an excuse to stare love-drunk in his eyes

Her fingers on my back, her whisper in my ear

     How can she not know?

You say that I'm your only girl

          don't ever change, don't dare

     You say that I'm yours

I'm not.

The End
