Addiction

Addiction

The shaking

The crying

The urge to do it one more time

The true feeling of addiction

The worry

The fear

Addiction is ugly

There is no escape

No mercy

No faith

No hope

Nothing goes your way

“oh, just once more” you say

Again and again

It’s like the ocean on a stormy day

You try to swim to shore

But all you get

Is knocked down by waves

And eventually you drown

Your lifeless body going deeper

and deeper into the abyss

drowning.

You can’t try to push yourself back up

If you have not hit the bottom

Once you are borderline dead

You’ve hit rock bottom

And you are ready to get out

You push with everything you have

Off of the bottom

Eventually you’ll reach the surface again

Just never stop swimming.

The End
