A time for us

We're both living in the glorious past
Of how once upon a time it used to be
We imagine being with our better selves
and not anymore with you and me

I recognize the person before me
and surely you must too
But a stranger still you've become
With time this distance only grew

There had been a time for us
where a touch could ignite a fire
a glance could convey untold stories
a single breath could evoke desire

But that time has sadly past
Like old stars, we are long dead
The romance that once stoked its fires
now lies deeply buried instead

The End
