A Thousand Happy Pills

Time to go out and paint the town black
least then I’ll find comfort in Broad Streets lights
I’d rather you argue with me than ignore me
but now I can’t even tell the difference

They say there is someone for everyone
but I know for a fact that is just a lie
No one lives happily ever after
they just find harder drugs
But I want to see if this could work out
Just one chance
is all I need

I don’t do much of anything these days
you seem appreciative of their attention
Everyone who wants a piece of you
fractured your memories of me

You were quiet and sweetly alluring
I could not turn my head away
I was only aware of her presence
the emotions that a thousand happy pills could not replace

They say there is someone for everyone
but I know for a fact that is just a lie
No one lives happily ever after
they just find harder drugs
But I want to see if this could work out
Just one chance
is all I need

The End
