A Third Anthology of Poetry

Recommend

Something old and something sweet,

Here I give you Angel’s beat,

I have another poem to tell

Of everything that came and will

Come again in a repeat;

For now the summary shall compete,

With time and length, I might add,

To portray the fact why I am glad,

To begin twice the step through time,

The first, the second, all I eye;

The sidebar lights up behind,

And shows what might belong to mind.

Join your poet in her tale,

As she passes on the next fable;

Look back and forth to my delight,

Please tell me here what comes to light.

If further speech is required,

Long poem two, she is desired.

Author guidance for This poem

SumnerzAngel This anthology has two 'introductions', as such, as the first I wrote (ironically taking place as the second), I deemed too long to work as the 'hooking' first page of the anthology. Instead, the second which I had written, I placed first! Basically, I wrote another as a more concise beginning. Those who know me will know that I am hardly concise!

Meanings. I enjoy a good deal of mystery surrounding the meaning of poems. Believe me, I operate a policy of trying to be mysterious in my own choice of language and lay-out! I'd be interested to see what opinions you have on not only the typical poetic notions of my poems, but also the meanings conveyed and the ideas formed.

Length. I go with whatever comes. If I am in the midst of a line and I feel that the poem has not gone its full circle or portrayed all I need to know, then I will continue on until I think it has reached the end of what is needed. That is how so many of my more-recent poems have grown. In comparison with Anthology One, the length is far greater. On the other hand, if the poem needs to be short and sweet, it will find its own way there. Poems, like characters, can jump out of control.

Vocabulary. There are some strange or altered words in my poems, twisted for my own sake and sense. I thought it wise to give a simple list
Waery- weary
Dissuited- unsuited
Thoros- Θορος, Greek for 'the man having borne'
Amute- muted, silenced
Fairhaven- a place of safety
Ostinaterically- like an ostinato, in the way of an ostinato
Quaintity- quaintness, the volume of quaint things
Any others (I will add as I go along)- just comment.
NB. I also like to dip in and out of archaic words, so you may come across those sorts of oddities too.

You may see a couple of the longer poems also posted as separate singles in the same way a singer would release tracks off their new album before the album itself is out. This is for to draw more attention to them, as well as being for in-depth reading and critique. Outside this anthology, they will more likely be unrateable.
