A Smile Has Been Left Behind

Recommend

On a sidewalk in the rain,

A smile has been left behind,

In a tree by the pond,

An imagination still climbs,

In the field of lively swaying grass,

A ring of daisies still lie,

Under the rope swing,

Two muddy footprints reflect the sky,

Under the deck with the spiders,

Two rubber boots still walk,

And beside the wet trampoline,

There lies a pair of sodden socks,

I ask you to remain strong,

To love someone dear who is gone,

I ask you to remain honest,

To keep in your soul love's promise,

And most of all, I ask you to cherish every loved one,

With as much heart as you did your only son.
