That Remains

Recommend

In response to ElzuWolfe’s series "Blue Sky Drowning": http://www.protagonize.com/story/lue-ky-rowning

    Sometimes
it’s just the surface that remains
scratched and scarred
while the center has traveled away into something.
    I’ve been left over
to carry on
to gather up the weight of my remembrances
to slide into home base with
blood on my skin.

Remember me, if you are
        if you can.
While I attempt the unattemptable
and hope that in trying
the impossible will speak to me
    will send me home
    will make me whole again.

Author guidance for This poem

FogCat This story is a place for you to post poems that you have written in response to poems by other authors on protagonize.

Now, there is no precise definition of 'response poem'--- it can be whatever you make it. They could be like the things you wanted to say, but couldn't phrase as comments, or they could be exploring the same themes as the poem you are responding to, or maybe they are written in a similar style.

You can also choose to write a series of poems--or just one.

So, here's how it works. Just post your poems, and introduce them with a comment that includes the name of the author and poem you are responding too, and the url of that poem--so that the reader can go see what you are responding to.

If poetry is a form of communication—let’s communicate! Feel free to join in the conversation.

No mature--thanks,
Fogs

p.s. these poems are not particularly seeking ratings, but would be happy if you maybe left a comment--or, even better--left a poem!
