Lost and Never Over

In response to ElzuWolfe’s series "Blue Sky Drowning": http://www.protagonize.com/story/lue-ky-rowning

Slap me.
Force the flood of tears
from these glossy circles carved of flesh
that I proudly name my eyes.
Want to wash,
want it to wash away the grime
of my pain.
Then want it to stop again.

Again, we meet again
but our fingers do not touch
a thousand miles of unbroken sky
holds fast between.
I lean away.

Pavement, all is pavement
scorched with sun
burned with fire
road between the past and the now.
Cover it with snow,
crack it with ice.

Leave me.

The End
