A Place Inside

A place inside.
Somewhere to hide,
To think and laugh and worry.
To wonder then,
Who, what and when
A place where things are blurry.
It’s always clear,
This place I fear;
The one I need and cherish.
It keeps me sane.
I’m on a chain.
Without it I will perish.

Sometimes I leave.
I don’t believe
I belong there, but I do.
It itches me.
It keeps me free.
Especially when I’m blue.
It’s in my mind,
Not yours to find,
Where only I can roam.
You have it too,
It’s nothing new;
A place that I call home.

The End
