A Leaf

If only a solitary leaf I could be
float so serenely on a cushion of air
to the whims of that occasional breeze
swept to places unknown, without a care

To be drenched in that morning dew
or perhaps swept away with the tide
swirled away in a storm so fearsome
but still call it just a wonderful ride

To find rest in some distant meadow
take comfort in that foliage green
Even in death find new meaning
To pass away from this world unseen

The End
