A Day at the Beach

happy memories of time well spent

We found a dead seal in the sand.

It was so sad.

I ran to tell my father, and he said

"Stay away from it, come here".

We drug our feet through the heat of the sand,

not wanting to stop exploring.

Our father asked us to jump in the ocean with him,

"Really?" We said, "You're going!"

My father couldn't swim anywhere but in the ocean.

He said it had something to do with the salt;

Not the salt of the earth, but the salt of the sea.

We were very happy.

Our father played with us that day.

Our mother steamed us clams for dinner.
