The idea of unrequited love

small, footprint shifted
rocks on that beach.
From here,
space is tiny; pin
pricked sheet of sky;
planets, a fleck of dust
in my vision.
Hard to imagine much
happening beyond here,
outside of my atmosphere.
Life on a planet
in orbit.
Are they dangerous?
Do they come in peace?
Can we speak the same language?
I'm remembering
the retreating tides
of that cold beach.
It is understandable
in retrospect, to see
you in galactic
of that ivory tower;
my Rapunzel,
not letting down
the sweeps of
her solar system
It is understandable
not to let someone in
when they're trying
to bash down the door.

The End
