Two poems, written on the same day, observing out my window the Carolina Wren, then when I went outside for something, seeing my cat sitting in the window where I had just been.
with no particular thought
By a rustling ‘neath the window
A wren, to and fro
Rusty orange breast, and the rest
Warm brown, bright white eye stripe.
Looking so alert, jumping from branch to leaf
All happy energy
