Why Do You Write?

The National Day on Writing is coming up on October 20th!

http://www.ncte.org/dayonwriting

The entire reason for this day, which was started by the National Council of Teachers of English, is to "recognize the importance of writing in the lives of us all." We may not realize it, but writing is a part of our everyday lives, in some form or another. We send text messages and emails, we write letters, we turn in essays we've slaved over for hours... Everyone in today's world should consider themselves writers in some respect. We already do because writing is what we love to do. We recognize the importance of writing in our personal lives.

What I'm interested in hearing from you all as fellow young writers, is one of the key questions of the National Day on Writing.

Why do YOU write?
Why do you breathe?
"Until I feared I would lose it, I did not love reading. One does not love breathing." - HARPER LEE

Same with writing. You don't realise how much fun it is 'til you get Block and can't find any words in your head for anything.
I write to live!!

I'm really not kidding, but I could possibly have a tiny chance of living if I didn't write.

But really, truly, I write for that "in another world" feeling that comes with every sentence. I write for the chills I get when I have a good idea that I've just started. I write for the awe-inspiring fantasy that is creating characters that come to life.

And that is why I write.
I write because I love it. Whether I am sad, or happy, or whatever the emotion it makes me feel better.

I love the feeling I get when I put pen to paper and all the thoughts buzzing around in my head come to life, and create things that are totally new to me and the world.

I see writing as like having a child. Its a part of you forever, and is special, amazing and fun.

That's why I write. Its exciting and fun
I LOVE WRITING STORIES!!!!
It's natural. If I didn't write stories, I'd write plays, or scripts. Anything to get these characters stories out there.
My mind swirls with possibilities, regardless of their outlandishness or dire possibility. I need to put it down and get it out, because when I have an idea, I can tell that it is a good idea when the sentences form themselves. Before long, I have pages and pages of the idea. I cannot control it, but even if I could, I would not. I write because the finished product is better than anything I've ever experienced, a mixture of many emotions smeared together in my system, and the feeling of fingers dancing across keyboard or pen or pencil across paper is incomparable.
My life is boring. I write about characters whose lives are a lot more fun reading about than mine is. That is why fantasy is my favorite genre!

I write because i love it and it can sometimes be more insteresting to life around me!
I almost allways get ideas at some point!
@LeahJH The way I view my stories, they are never finished. I can never stop thinking about the characters, and them just having a normal day, and what will happen to them later in life.
I write to speak. Writing brings whatever is in my mind brings my mind to life, and therefore me to life, if that even makes sense. Plus my characters' lives are way cooler then mine. I mean, I'd gladly go on those adventures, if you know what I mean. Unravelling the mysteries of a centuries-old brotherhood, fighting off a banished clan gone wild, being part of an elite group of freedom-fighting renegades, even just falling in love.

I always wished I'd have epic adventures. My writing brings them out.
This is why:

Woah...

@LoneWriter That was so...for lack of a better word, beautiful. I believe that sometimes people can say and explain things you are feeling better than even you can yourself. And I think that's what you did there, because that's exactly how I feel. I tell the paper things I could never tell anyone else. I write down words I wouldn't dare speak for fear of well...just out of fear. I just get things out better that way. That's probably why I write my prayers.

I love these, you all! <3
@Lindsey Thanks :)
Because if I couldn't I'd have no reason for the future.
I write to blow off steam. And to organize my very cluttered head. But, I also write because I can't seem to shake off any of these things that pop into my head, like my ideas. I pretty much write to tell people what i think. Or I write to get a cause out there, to raise awareness. But I just love to write. I can't live with out it.
I write because if I didn't, I would probably have to die. I write so that my emotions, even exaggerated ones, are released in a way that isn't harming me. I write so that I have something that nobody can take away from me.
