Mine will be up asap.. I had to get a late start because I've bee really busy with the poetry tournament.. I will take whatever punishment for tardiness, but I'd rather have a low score for being late than having a bad entry.. Sorry :(

So, we won't be penalized for being a little outside the word count guidelines, will we? Because I'm about thirty words over 1000, and it's going to be really difficult for me to chop any more than I already have. . . .

@Gabriel as far as I remember, no one is going to be penalized except in "extreme" cases, and 30 words are hardly significant..

good luck! : )

@FantasyJunkie

Alright, thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who seemed to remember hearing that. Will be posting my piece up as soon as I go through it for a quick edit.

And good luck to you, too!

I agree with @FantasyJunkie I don't see 30 words over as being worth harsh penalization (it's not even 1% over if you want to bring math into it).

Thanks, after editing, though, I'm within the guidelines after all! 985 words; be posting it shortly.

tip: complete your review somewhere quiet. outside noise, especially music, will influence your own mood and could detract from the writing itself!

how are we supposed to submit the reviews? a total score out of 30, or separately like x/15, x/5... ?

@dottylotti and @Juliia

we're supposed to post these links in the information and announcements thread, not here...

@FantasyJunkie, both. check out some of the other entries to see how people are doing it.

You also need to tag SPC2010, rather than just SPC. Just makes it easier to get a hold of your post...

I would recommend giving an over all score with a general statement about how they did, followed by the score for each rated category along with a comment explaining why they were given that rating.

Anyway that's just my two cents, and how I plan on doing it.

uh, Jack? Am I using the wrong scorecard? Have I missed something? o.O

I believe the score cards for the pannalist differres from the peer reviews. As a pannalist we get and extra category rating the person on how well they completed the challenege (15 possible points). This means Pannalists can give a max total of 45, while peer reviews can only give a max total of 30. This is part of what weights the scores per Jack's master plan.

At least this is what I have noticed, but I leave it to Jack to have the final word. *grin*

Oh sweet no I figured it out. Or Aryst0krat did, anyway. I was using the correct one, after all.

Elo has it right. panellists give a score out of 45, peers a score out of 30. in the end, it means that the final score is 2/5ths peer-based, and 3/5ths panel-based.

I've a question: How many panelists are reviewing us? I believe the email we got said we'd have two panel reviews plus peer reviews of anyone in our group. But I've noticed some people have three panel reviews. . . .

Just wondering. :)

@Gabriel, you'll get at least two panel reviews for this first round. i'm remaking the panellists' review schedules to reflect the new roster, so your panel reviews could be two or three for each challenge.

About this group

'cause we all know it's more exciting in Imaginationland.

Worldbuilding is a process, a process that never really ends. It begins with the conception of the setting, progresses as details and histories are filled in, and is then finally refined and reshaped as the characters explore it.

Some writers construct huge worlds with deep histories, cultures, languages, geographies, and societies. Others opt for a simpler approach, and construct only what they need to tell a story convincingly.

Whatever approach you take, this group hopes to provide some tips and tools for the worldbuilding process and, should you need it, people to help you along the way. We're all crafting stories here, why not make them a little more convincing?
