As for tips, well, I don't really have any. I've done NaNo 8 times and only succeeded once, so I'm probably the worst person to ask.
Ah, well that's a shame! At least you keep trying, though! Persistence is key, from what I'm told. :) This is my first year, but I'm going to re-tool an idea I used on this website for a collab as my story for NaNo. I'm really excited!
Ohmygosh! Yay! You should tell me your NaNo screen name so I can find you :) I'm actually going to take Atlas of Atlantis and see where it goes with just me! haha. :D
Your account for the site! http://nanowrimo.org/en/participants/photic-aphotic
And that sounds like a good plan! I considered using Apocalyptica, and even The Lost Generation.

Oh, congrats! Me too! It's hard to believe, I know. I thought I had so much more time to prepare! Have you decided on a story?
hahaha, i will add you on there! and I know what you mean. The thing is, though, you can pick up a story mid-way through but your "nano word count" starts at 0 even if your story is already at 19,000. You just can't upload those 19,000 as part of your ending word count.
Age of Heroes would be a good one to do, though!
lolol, well i don't think people can read it on the NaNo website? idek. I am considering posting my chapters here, too.
but no, no, dear. that's not what i mean. NaNo just counts up the words you write within November; so if you were to do your private novel, you could continue it from where you are - you just would only be uploading the stuff you write during november. Your personal story word count would continue to grow from 19,000 but on the NaNo website, it would start at 0 because you can't upload the chapters you already have.
yk?
lol i'm sure you will figure it out ;) and nope, at least you don't have to do that!
We do have a full-on NaNoWriMo group for this sort of discussion. :)

I'd encourage you all to hop over there to continue the discussion. Going to close this topic so everyone can follow in one place -- thanks!
Cheers,
