Also, what's your favorite movie? :D
I really love movies that are post-apocalyptic or fantasy and historical fiction. Fantasy & historical-fiction moives have more of an influence on me though.
My favorite movie is a tie between Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and The Golden Compass.
Same with me. XD
I can't get enough of fantasy stories with a twist. But they have to be original, or I won't be entertained. :P
For my influence, I've usually taken from Victorian-time movies. All three of my (long) stories have been set in that time period. XD
My favorite movie is probably Dracula. There's a lot of inspiration taken from that in my stories, as well.
Dracula? Which Dracula movie? If you're talking about the 1992 film, that movie scared me to bits!
Yes! I watched it the other day and loved it. Some moments were laughable, I have to admit, though. (For example, the fake accents.)
Pride and Prejudice
Gone with the Wind (Not technically Victorian, but same type of atmosphere)
Sherlock Holmes (amazing!)
A Midsummer Night's Dream (same atmosphere, but being Shakesperian it's older)
Alice in Wonderland
I would also recommend the Crucible. It's not Victorian, it takes place during the Salem Witch Trials, but a good movie. :D
Avatar - the special effects blew my brains out, even if the plot wasn't great.
All the Blackadder films
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Lord of the Rings trilogy- I know :P
The Invention of Lying
Gladiator

It has kind of gotten to the point, where if I hear Tim Burton, Mel Brooks or Stanley Kubrick are directing a movie, I am going to definitely want to check it out. If I heard a movie with a joined direction by the three, I probably would not be watching it, as I would have not-so-spontaneously combusted from sheer orgasmic joy X3.
I'm sure my Dad must have it stashed in his collection somewhere, he's got milllions of that sort of thing ... I'm going in!!! xD
O.O I've only seen a handful of these moives.
But I'm amazed no one said Titanic! The first time I saw, it was a perfect childhood moment though I didn't cry at the end XD Who did anyway?
Another one of my fav movies is Man on Fire. Something that actually made me cry for once!
I have no idea, why, but the worst music in the world seems to come from Canada. Which is weird, as we do have plenty of music that is actually decent to listen too, and not complete and total feces like Celion Dion, Avril Latrine, Nickelback, Brian Adams, etc., etc.
So yeah--no real opinion on Titanic because I refuse to go near it, due to the involvement of Celion Dion, really.
Me and my girlfriend of the time actually laughed out loud when the dog died in Marley and Me, because of the sobbing and wailing coming from the crowd around us. I don't think I'm welcome there anymore...
Uhm, The most recent movie I though was great was District 9. In fact I bought a laptop a few days ago purely because the sales assistant had an south african accent :P
Good movies... Hmm... The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Ennio Morricone is a genius (Watch The Mission, you'll see, well, hear what I mean). Brazil :D. Monty Python (Of course). Labyrinth (You remind me of the babe...) and so on.
Werner Herzog's The Wrath of God is not a nice movie to watch, a bit archaic nowadays though. (Not quite as bad as Koyanisquatzi, I will never forgive my dad for letting me watch that, I'll never be the same) Klaus Kinski does "Don't mess with me, I'm utterly insane" very well.
Thats all that spring to mind at the moment, my friends despair when they learn I've never seen Terminator or toy story 3 :P
Well I love end of the world apocalyptic movies with an actual touch of reality behind it. Knowing [with Nicholas Cage] was amazing. Since both my brother and I are both Christian, we knew what the meaning was behind the picture that pretty much labels the whole plot of the story. So i pretty much loved Knowing even though it's not the best movie to brighten up someone's day.
I'm surprised that not most of you like Titanic. Whenever I think back to movies i watched when I was a kid, that's the one that pops up mainly in my mind [others are Karate Kid and Jaws (I used to hide behind the couch when I watched the shark attack movie XD)]. Titanic is actually pretty good. What's wrong with romantic/relationship movies even if they do all have the same expected ending or plot? Unless you understand or atleast connect to what the characters in the movie are going through, you might not be actually to understand the whole point of it. =/ Actually, i have no idea what i meant there but I just typed it anyways. XD
Well, there's this indian movie I really love and it has an amazing plot [it connects with someone's life in reality that i know]. But I don't want to bore ya with the details of that unless someone is interested. :D
