i agree with everyone who loves Donna - I do too! I liked Rose a lot, and MArtha was ok, but I found that she sort of whined a lot about the Doctor kept bringing up Rose. However, when it really counted (read: when the Master took control of the world and Martha had to stop him) she really stepped it up. I like Amy, except for the fact that I find her a lot like Donna. This would be ok if I didn't think it was deliberate. I mean this last season (with Matt Smith) I found perfectly enjoyable especially with episodes like The Eleventh Hour (simply for the fish-custard), The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone (which is where Matt Smith became the Doctor for me), Vincent and the Doctor (really sad) and The Lodger (completely hilarious).

Wow, I think I've come into this discussion a bit late!! I didn't know there were so many people willing to discuss Doctor Who among us!

I've only seen the latest three doctors. In a way Christopher Eccleston will always be 'my' doctor - because he was my first. I was so upset after he regenerated that I refused to watch half of the David Tennant episodes (yes, I know it's sacrilegious, but there it is!!), preferring to watch things like 'Merlin' and 'Robin Hood'. Having decided that they are terrible (so bad that it's actually quite amusing!), I went back to Doctor Who in time for a few of David Tennant's and then Matt Smith. Who is extremely cute (not in thatway! He's just rather sweet).

I don't mind Amy Pond, although I hate all the press about her 'short skirts'. I mean - come on!

After just a few weeks, I have to admit that I am completely converted to Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. A mixture of great Doctor Who storylines and even better Sherlock storylines can account for that!

I wish Sherlock hadn't only been three episodes :(

@RodwenDilain - FISH CUSTARD! My sisters go mad whenever I mention either of those words, and have taken to cutting their apples with smiley faces... I wonder where this will lead... !!

@Westrina Haha! My sister is less than pleased with the show, so I can't really talk about it. Sometime she gets angry, but most of the time, she just doesn't understand what I'm talking about. For the fish custard - I wonder what Mr Matt Smith think of it, and how it tasted after four or five takes of that shot...

Ah yes--I love me some Doctor Who myself.

I mostly only like Rose after/before/during she became/was/had/splurge Bad Wolf. Essentially being the sort of person that time is her private b*tch to do with as she wants. I generally like it when any character gets to the point, that the standard tenses no longer apply to them.

I also liked both Christopher and David for Doctors. They both did a very good job. With the classic doctors I enjoyed being The first and the fourth. Though everybody loves the fourth.

We get episodes on both CBC and PBS here in Canada--though, they tend to be odd with their schedules on various British Stuff. PBS is particularly bad, as when I use to watch Red Dwarf it was impossible to catch and episode as guessing the time slot was usually at best guess work.

Though, thanks for mentioning they are on daily motion. I will check them out there.

@Harlot - you should check out SPACE (if you have cable) as well. They replay the new series Monday-Thursday nights at 8, and occasionally show the specials on Saturday nights around 9 or 10 :D

@RodwenDilain ah--when did they start doing that? As well, I kind of cancelled my cable about a year ago--as there was nothing I really ever watched on it.

I mean, maybe one or two shows on a few channels, that required me getting a package of like ten to fifteen. Eventually I just cancelled it, as it was getting wasteful to have all those channels, and next to none I really watched.

@Harlot - they started with the Eleventh Doctor's season, so back in June? And now they replay old episodes every night (except the weekend and Friday)... True enough. There are really only a few shows that I watch on our cable too.

so if anyone's curious...

As a matter of fact, I just recently started watching "them all". I'll let you know how long it takes...

...that was June 11, and I just finished a few days ago. So it takes about 5 months to watch the entirety of Dr. Who from beginning to present, including the movie, and including Torchwood and Sarah Jane for good measure. I couldn't bear to watch the 80's K-9 show with the weird version of K-9 :-/ Of course, that's how long it took whilst having a life in the meantime, so I'm sure you could do it faster :P

*claps* Wow good for you.

I'm only atempting to watch all of FireFly, which only has 13/14 episodes to it's name and the movie Serinity....

So how many episodes a week/day did you watch?

It varied a lot... we usually watched it on week nights, sometimes just a few episodes, sometimes we'd start mid-afternoon and watch a whole season before the night was over :p And the old show had shorter "episodes" but there were 4-6 episodes per "story", so we'd usually watch one or two stories per night.

For some reason I much prefer to watch one loonnnnng story every night over watching random TV and movies all the time. DW is still only the *second* longest show we've watched though; Dark Shadows took about a year!

I'm from the 2005-2010 generation where my mind was mesmorised (or however you spell it!) by the 9th and 10th doctor. Both in love with the characters and actors and producers...i even named my goldfish after russell t davies! Then he left and everyone thought "oh wow stephen moffett is an amazing writer!" i did...and he is but he's all head not so much heart...the 11th doctor was reveiled and shreaked in disgust...tried to adjust watched the first episode didn't like the new companion amy pond thought she was a reincarnation of the companions i here from the 70's who are boys pin ups and make the show a boys/geeks show not a show for a girl with an imagination and from then on i just got even more and more disappointed until by the fourth week i was watching it thinking "i could be doing something ten times better than watching this..." and i did something i thought i'd never do...i began to channel flick during doctor who...
Oh how sad i feel now :( Christmas aint christmas without doctor who but this christmas i'll find yself doing anything to avoid it! My walls are still covered with the face of david tennant and i'm annoyed ta myself for not liking teh new series but i can't help it. It's only people who weren't bothered about it before and quite geeky people who like it now! I used to have my mates round every staurday we used to write, film we even went to cardiff in a transit van...people don't go crazy about it now, even if people say they do, doctor who isn't the same...Long live Russell, Julie and Phil!!
Sorry if i've annoyed anyone i honestly don't mean to...i've half lost friends throught me just not watching a TV show which i thinks pathetic and shows how pathetic people who you think are you closest friends in the entire world, actually are...
So i suggest you watch the episode "Rose"
Even though doctor who kind of makes me sad now, if i turn the TV on and it's the good ol' days i'm smiling and i can text one of my mates who kind of wandered off into depression and there's a little flame of hope there...nostalgia? guilt? I'm not sure, but it's something and i suppose that's what doctor who is! Even if you are a bit weird and fancy matt smith i mean seriously...my mate's brother is mates with him and i'm still not won over by the snob!

@LauraMightyMayhem - In many ways I agree with you. And Amy Pond is just annoying. But I've seen some sneak peeks of the new series etc and it looks way better than the last one. I think they're settling down into the roles and they've had feedback from viewers about what they don't like, so maybe it will be better. Perhaps you should consider giving them one more chance?

@delorfinde Is amy pond dead? I think im more like just annoyed with the moff he really does think he's a genius and a bit big for his boots. It's the fact that they changed everything and were like "but we're so awesome anyway!" instead of thinking ok it's all new so we've gotta start like before. You know, humble and stuff...

@LauraMightyMayhem - yeah, it's odd that some of the episodes haven't been that good, because Stephen Moffet wrote some of the creepiest episodes before. Like Midnight, and The Empty Child - they were both his. There were a couple of others too. I wish he'd go back to things that were psychologically frightening instead of going monster-happy!

@delorfinde Midnight was Russell's! I really didn't wanna say that coz it makes me sound like a tit but i had to because it kinda sticks fingers up! I rea dthw witer's tale and found out that the executive producer pretty much writes every episode so i'm wondering whether all those amazing ideas that supposedly the moff had wrote were actually russell's...x
