Woohoo! I like! Good job boss! I especially like the umbrella. ( : For those of you who don't yet know what I'm talking about, I'll let you explore and find it.

I'm not sure what the first image in that row is, though... ?

As I was waking up this morning I dreamed about seeing the 'stories' drop-down and how cool that would be. Clearly I was excited about this.

A lot of the poems are not categorized, because there is a new list of categories, right? So we need to go through and put them in their places, no? Some things will remain categorized though, right?

Unbrella? Can I get a clue? Oh to have more time than 15 minutes to explore!

Uh, yeah - what the hell is that?

I just showed it to my fiancee and she was like, 'Is it an animal? Like a penguin, hunched over?'

I said 'No' but let me assure you... there was no confidence in my voice.

Also: I likes.

I just went through my stuff and had to recategorize a few poems but other than that it was all good.*

*A task that would have been made much simpler if I had a way to list all the stories/poems I've started. *cough*

The first image is a mask (think: dramatic) - it's hard to find a good icon for stories, believe me. :p

As to re-categorizing - the poems (etc.) that have been categorized are the ones that had matching categories in their new sections... the rest had to be filed as Uncategorized as I mentioned in my first post here.

@Eloosive Updating the "my stories" list with some filters is in the works, but obviously this had to be done first.

Glad everyone's likin' the changes so far.

Cheers,

Oh. Ohhhhh, I see it now. And yeah, I can imagine finding something that just applies to stories would be hard. A pen? Use one of those to write poems and everything else too. A book? Could be a book of poems.

Hmm, I shall think on it.

And I understand about this getting done first. I just wanted to make sure you knew that I'm never satisfied :P
Comment: I just realized that when you use the drop-down tag titled "read" you can select "Write Something"... I find this a little odd, as reading is something different that writing. (Way to state the obvious, foggie.) If it were me, I'd move the 'Write Something" over to "profile" but maybe it's under 'read' so that non-members can be enticed to write something? hmm...

@FogCat Yeah, that's just temporary until the redesign is complete. In my new design, there's a separate Write option in the top menu. For now I'm just leaving it where people were used to seeing it. :)

Alrighty.

So Faltar just posted a new chapter in For The Hater Raters.

In the Recent Activity list it shows up as:

http://www.protagonize.com/undefined/for-the-hater-raters/54940

See that 'undefined' in there? Yeah, I'm thinking it's the reason behind why I get taken to the Oops page when I click on it.

Interestingly, the link to the story itself doesn't have it, just the new chapter.

Also: it works fine when I click on the chapter link in my notifications.

@Eloosive Thanks - I put a temporary fix in there so the "undefined" link will still work. Just going out for a bit but I'll put in a real fix for it later. The recent activity list just hasn't been totally updated to the new URL format yet.
So, what's this big 'redesign' you're talking about? It's not going to be TOO different, is it? Because I love Protagonize how it is .... *sobs at the thought that it might look different*

Somebody enlighten me?

@delorfinde No, it won't look too different, just better. :)

Don't worry too much about it - it will be a major improvement: less cluttered, easier to find stuff, cleaner and friendlier. Stories will be much easier to read and author profiles will be expanded so you can showcase your work, etc. I'll be adding a few subscriber features at the same time.

I'll probably post some screenshots later this month once I'm closer to having it ready.

Okay, the Stories image is different now. Should be a little easier to figure out. :)

I've also pushed a bunch of fixes up just now - the activity list in particular should be working better.

Let me know if you see anything else wonky...
I was just about to come comment: "the stories got a face-lift" haha. I like it. A bit random, but it works, I think.

I've a question: why did you shrink the number of votes a story/poem etc must get to show up on the top rated in each section? It seems a bit low...? Then again, maybe this way we'll see even more of a turn-over and will be able to find current well rated stuff. I see that the overall top rated is still at the same level (or similar, at any rate).

-Foggle
p.s. @nick You're brilliant! You came up with so many good tags is all the sections! I can't wait to see them fill up. ( :

@FogCat Thanks! Although I can't take credit for the poetry categories - @Rac7hel and her poetry team came up with most of those ones.

As for the required number of votes for top rated, that's leftovers from the "top stories" within the individual categories. I'll tweak it a bit, although I do tend to tweak those pretty often anyway. :)

Edit: Okay, I matched the required number of votes up to what it was before now. That change was unintentional. :)

OMG Protagonize Tennis! Now that sound's like an awesome category! I wonder how it will get used.
