So far, this is for Wolfe, Ty694 and Russ.

Russ
Okay, we'll cover characters first. I'm going to make my character a Special Forces sniper. I think that that designation is important because while she (yes, she) will snipe, she will also do a lot of room clearing and so forth as well, just like everyone else.

So, I'll try to whip up a quick template.

Name: Emily Johnson (could change)
Role: Sniper
Weapons: * LWRC SABR rifle (12" assault barrel and 20" sniper barrel), 7.62x51 NATO; Barrett M98B sniper rifle, .338 Lapua Magnum, bolt action; Mk 23 Mod 0 pistol, .45 ACP, silenced; combat knife (get back to ya on that)
Description: Physical only, I'll do this part later.
Personality: Once again, I'll do it later.
History: Brief description, mostly military such as medals, notable previous postings, training, etc. And, I'll do it later.

*My weapons selection is highly variable... it'll probably change within the hour...

That's about all I've got, for now. See anything else that should be added? After I post this comment, I'll post a little bit about the assault rifle selection. It might get highly technical, since I'm really bored...

Russ
Okay, so, assault rifles... Here is my thing about assault rifles. The NATO standard round is the 5.56mm. I, personally, do not like 5.56 because it lacks stopping power at longer ranges. I prefer the 6.8mm SPC as it has superior power like a 7.62x39mm AK round, but flies more like the 5.56. There is also the 6.5mm Grendel, which is also superior to the 5.56.

So, I would like to have the standard round for our little group be 6.8mm. There are, however, a limited number of designs that shoot the 6.8mm round. There are hundreds (I doubt I'm exaggerating) of designs that shoot 5.56. Sure, you only need one design, but that also goes into machine guns, which we'll likely end up with at some point.

So, I'll ask for your opinions. Do we use the 5.56, or go to 6.8? It doesn't actually make that big of a difference as far as writing goes, but it could come up. After all, 5.56 can be had pretty much anywhere, while 6.8 is harder to find, since it isn't "standard" ammunition.

Besides, I'm going to use 7.62x51mm anyway, so... You choose what round you use, so long as everyone uses it. =)

Russ
I'd say the 5.56 as we could scavenge ammo or weapons as we needed them cos it's much more common
Yep, good point. We'll see what Ty says, but since he has already found a 5.56 Russian weapon, he'll probably agree. That said, I'll link to a couple of Youtube videos that might be helpful to us (or others who may join later).

So, first, for the "standard" assault rifle, a good choice would be the Bushmaster ACR;

And, for Wolfe, the LWRC SABR (I'm looking for actual information right now);

Russ
I'm liking the SABR :D wish I could buy one myself :D
I totally agree. That's why my character is going to have one. =)

Russ
I agree - 5.56, as I don't recall any Russian weapons chambered for 6.8 that looked any kind of reliable.

Is there a standard round for pistols? And also, shall we differentiate rounds for revolvers and semiautos, or use the same cartridge? One more thing: attachments? Certain ones for certain missions, or what? Oh, and shotguns. Now that I've brought that up, I'll try to get a bio up real soon.
Well if you're set on a revolver one bit of gear you'll need is a speed reloader cos otherwise it would that too long to reload and therefore you'd die :/

And as for attachments I guess suppressors are a constant one for obvious reasons, I reckon infra red sights could be handy too
Right. K, cool. Thanks :) Bio should be up in a few minutes.
5.56 it is then. 6.8 is still pretty new, so there aren't too many guns for it.

Well, with revolvers, I'd say use a magnum round of some sort. As for semi-autos, I'd say probably .45 ACP for the firepower.

With attachments, well, Special Forces, so we'll most likely have sights (ACOG and reflex), probably some grenade launchers, foregrips, about anything that has ever been made could be had. Oh, and silencers, yeah, definitely silencers.

As for shotguns, I know nothing for the Russians, but the M1014 is pretty good. There are also a couple of "Masterkey" shotguns, mountable on an assault rifle like a grenade launcher. The one that comes to mind is;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M26_Modular_Accessory_Shotgun_System

Russ
Okay...trying to decide if a Masterkey like the M26 MASS or a GP-25 grenade launcher would be better gear for my guy. Also, can you suppress a revolver? I see no reason externally why not, but I've never seen it done and for some reason I can't explain, it seems implausible to me. But, if it's been done, I'm all for it.
So basically anything in C.O.D or Battlefield 3 :P
Ummm... As to suppressing a revolver, I don't think that you can. Something about the actual revolving part and the barrel having a gap to allow for rotation. However, I see nothing wrong with having a suppressed auto for when it's needed and the revolver for everything else.

So, do either of you know of anyone who might be interested in joining this? We need someone for explosives and someone for electronics and someone for a machine gun, probably. We could write multiple characters, but I would kind of prefer to have more people in on it, if for nothing else than for more ideas.

Russ
Okay, that's right. Thanks. I guess I'll do that, then.

I'm not sure of anyone that would join right now, but I'll let you know if I think of someone later on.
Sounds good. So, what are we wanting to do with these nice characters we are coming up with? I mean, we are going to take out terrorists, sure, but big picture, what are we fighting?

I'd say that, since a large concentration of forces could be taken out, no problem, probably a WMD would be a good choice. Nukes are a decent choice, but that is pretty much a big bang and some fall out. I'd say something biological (like that nice new, what was it, avian flu strain, maybe?) might give more options and uniqueness to the story.

Opinions?

Russ
I like biological or chemical. Now, I'm having a hard time finding any Russian .45 calibers. I think I'll just use a foreign-manufactured weapon, if that's all right.
Sure, use foreign stuff. I mean, if it's good, does it really matter where it came from?

Russ
Name: Alek Beketov
Role: Weapons Specialist
Weapons: AK-108 assault rifle, 5.56x45mm NATO, reflex sight, suppressor, M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System; MP412 REX Revolver, .357 Magnum, speed reloader; Colt Commander, .45 ACP, suppressor, flashlight; Emerson Commander folding knife, partially serrated edge, Wave opening mechanism; several fragmentation and flash-bang grenades.
Description: 27 years of age, just taller than average; lean; dark green eyes; short, straight brown hair.
Personality: Irritable and full of aggression, but shares comradeship with fellow soldiers. Very standard-issue about everything except his weapons, which he chose. Good at one-liners, not that he uses them aloud very much.
History: Medal for Courage (Russian Medal of Valour), Order of Courage, previously with Spetsruppa Alfa, the elite Russian counter-terrorist unit. Trained in GRU hand-to-hand combat techniques, rappelling and other climbing techniques, psychological warfare, weapons handling, demolition and hostage rescue.

This ok? I really wasn't sure about putting down combat specialist, but if someone doesn't like it, I'll change it. Is there any of this you want me to edit?

PS, Russ: I totally agree with what you're saying about guns. :)

Nope, looks good. I mean, most soldiers are combat specialists. Sure, they are also a dime a dozen, but still. =)

I'll eventually get around to finalizing personality and stuff for Emily, but I'm working on another project right now, so it could be a day or two.
