Figured this was the best place to start.

I did have two quick questions that I wasn't able to find answers to or needed clarification on.

1) Most of the work I plan to post will be Solo and it seems that the recommended action would be to make it No License. Is that correct? That means I reserve all copyrights and no one else can use it?

2) Can non-members (people who don't create an account and use a username/password to log in) read our works?

Thanks for the help! :D

Oh! I forgot. There was one more thing. What is this Share button?

Welcome! Let's see...

1) Yes, No License means all rights reserved.
2) Yes, non-members can read your work,
and
3) The Share button posts a link to the thing, whatever thing you're looking at, on Facebook or Twitter, if you have your account connected to them. Which you can do on the Login page, I believe. (Note: It's not automatic, so you can click on the Share button and poke around at some options before it posts anything.)

:( That's to bad. I'd like to be published some day, but if my work is available for just anyone to see, it will be hard to get a publishing house to take it on. Thanks for the info though :)

Hi @Annastasia, welcome to Protag.

To respond to your concerns about privacy, you can always create a private group (regular users can create up to 2 groups each) and post your work there. Only members of the group will be able to see the work, in that case, so you'd then be able to pick and choose who reads it.

However, anything posted in a public area of the site is visible to anyone, logged in or not. Considering the volume of users on the site, I don't think it makes much of a difference whether or not "viewability" is limited to registered members. That's still over 20,000 people who could see it, either way.

If a publisher has a problem with it being posted online at first, you can always remove it anytime -- yourself -- so long as it's a solo work. Seemed to work fine for the author of 50 Shades of Grey (not that I'm a fan.) ;)

Cheers,
-nick
