Editing?

Editing?

I know NaNoEdMo is in march, but that's just too far away, and I think my nano is gonna need a lot more work than that one month.

I'm just going through spelling errors at the moment, and dear gods it's dull. Also, I make so many errors when I speed type...

Is anyone else already editing? Tell me I'm not alone in my misery?
I was doing quite a bit of editing just before Christmas. I have to get back to it again, because I'm rather jazzed about my story. I've been finding that most of it reads pretty well, despite the fact that I was typing fairly quickly and constantly to avoid Write or Die's sonic consequences.

But then, that's usually the case with me. I find that stuff I write quickly without agonizing over it is often better than stuff I fuss about and "edit while writing". I guess there's something to be said for "brain dump".

And, like you, I'm just fixing typos and glaring blunders for this pass. The structural stuff will come later.

Last year I didn't even start editing until May. And then it was great because it was like reading something new. I think if I started now it would be too early.

I'm planning on starting in February, the first pass at least. I might let it sit for a while after that before really getting into it.
