My first goal is over.
22,034 or something like that. will do more later I expect.
Just passed 27,000. I managed to pass the daily word count yesterday, and I'm officially doing good.

Day 16: 33,259

Had a 'productive' day at work today, taking the rest of the night off.

At least, I'm going to try to. We'll see.
Day 16: 1,841 words. Not my worst day, but pretty darn close. I started waaay too late in the evening. Had to stop before 2,000 words so I'd have time to update the count on the NaNo site before the stroke of midnight.

Total so far: 34,405

I'd better stop putting off the writing to the last part of the day. Geez, you'd think it was a chore or something.

Edit: Ain't no f@#$&n' way I'm gonna be able to tell this story in 50,000 words. I'm just too verbose in each scene. Great for word count, but no so great for finishing the damn story.

50,081! A sigh of relief, a glass of bubbly, two band-aids for my sore fingers, and a moment of pure satisfaction complemented by a bar of dark chocolate and a roaring fire. Sadly, the sigh is turning into a presently uninspired mind, the bubbly now boils, the band-aids and chocolate have both melted, and that darn fire is starting to burn my skin something fierce. And I truly thought I would enjoy success.
Alas, on to the next story!
Good luck to all other Nanoers. Admittedly, that moment of achievement is something rather special and I hope you all get to feel it.
Got my eyes on you Tasha!

Day 17: 35,296

Just keeping on, keeping on.
Day 17: 3,145 words.
Total: 37,550.

I felt a bit like the Energizer Bunny this evening. Or perhaps a long-winded English professor.
37 300 I have absulately no drive at this point.
Day 18: 39,898. I am determined that by the end of today I@ll hit the 40k mark.

BTW, longest thing I've ever written before was 22k. So I'm pretty proud of myself.
Day 18: 2,077 words.
Total: 39,627.

Sooooo close to 40,000, and I would have written more today, too, except we bought the Star Trek DVD today. Awesomeness revisited!!

Day 18: 37,057

Right on track to hit 40k on Day 20. Then it'll just be 1k per day to the finish.

I'm not convinced the story will be done at 50k, which will present a whole new challenge.

That's my worry about mine, too. Which is why I'm aiming for 60k by end of Day 30.

Gad, I'm verbose!

Edit: 60k is a much better number, anyway. It divides up evenly into nice little round 2k chunks per day. I think they should change it for next year.
@Faltar

NO haha. I'm barely coping with 50k!

Nice little 2k chunks he says. little.
Better for next year he says. better.

Its not about finishing the story haha, its about htting 50k !

JEEZ man!
@chazpez You make it sound like I'm insane.

(* pause... *)

Oh. Right.

Never mind.
So, stats for today...

Day 19: 2,009 (didn't plan on that number, but it's cool)
Big Total: 41,636

I need to start thinking about where this story's going and how I'm going to get there.

Day 19: 39,350

Got my writing done early today, so I took a few minutes to lay out a plan to get me to the end of the story. I think I might be able to manage it at 55k but I'm probably just keeping the number reasonable so that I keep going after I hit 50k.

Because I really need to finish the story before the end of the month, not just hit 50k. I need to get it done while momentum is with me.

Okay, so I thought it was about time I checked back in here. I've spent the last 20 days or so mainly writing back story and flashbacks, and at 26.500ish things are starting to get going in the present portion of the story. It's taking shape, and a lot of things have changed from my initial rough outline. For one thing, the occupations of three of my characters have changed, and one of my secondary characters has been battling for the position of main character.

As to the length, I 'm aiming to make it to about 70,000 by day 30, in a few marathon sessions in the time remaining. (I think that should be do-able, seeing as i managed the second 50,000 of my 100K last year in 14 days.) But I reckon the story itself will probably only be 3/4 finished at that point, so I'll have to keep going through at least part of December.

It's been a chore so far, but I'm starting to get into it now :)

Most displeased.

I've lost a ton of my work - that'll teach me to save different parts on different computers.

well, that puts my current count down to 39k... So I have some catching up to do, as I was at 60...
