Writing short stories

the other day i heard this advice about writing short stories and I thought I'd share it. While most flash fiction authors have already heard this, its a good thing to keep in mind. "When writing a short story, the point is not the plot, or the action, or even the story itself. The main focus of a good short story is to convey an idea through a story. these events should be small, not anything that would require more space to convey. and remember, a short story is not a breaking news report but an editorial." I just thought you guys might enjoy this awesome advice I got from one of my teachers!!

Thanks so much. I just had to write a short story for school, and I did pretty well, but it drove me crazy trying to make it short! And it was still 5 pages!!

This should help my next one though. Thanks again!!

Yeah, the advice is good but I totally know what you mean CrazyCay, I do that all the time. Writing a short story is sooo hard when you have so many ideas for it.
