Compose a flash fiction piece of 300 - 1,000 words in length. The piece must adhere to the characteristics of flash fiction -- you must have a protagonist and a conflict, although whether or not this conflict is resolved is up to you. Your last and most important rule is that it must be written entirely in present tense.
You have until July 31st to enter. Write your entry as you would any other story on Protagonize, and then come back here and provide the link in a comment so that we can read it.
I will be announcing the winner on August 1st. Good luck! :D

The story itself is in present tense, but the main character is delving into the past. There are a few references that occur in the past that are in the past tense. Does the story still qualify? Please let me know.

I started to write a story that i thought could work in the context of length, it turned into a lot more than 1000 words (darn that keyboard) I spent a long time trying to hone it down to a flash fiction piece, and just decided to stop fiddling and post before it was too late.. I hope you all like it (slash understand it, lol)
