Because a lot can happen in just a few words.
Do you believe there is virtue in being succinct and like writing what Sandra Cisneros terms "lazy poems" (prose pieces of 1-3 pages in length maximum)? If so, then this is the group for you. Flash fiction is defined as fiction of extreme brevity — the standard length for flash fiction pieces is 1,000 words.
But perhaps Randall Brown gives the best definition for flash fiction: "An urgency exists in the word flash, something that must be read before it's gone." If you enjoy both reading and writing flash fiction, and would like the chance to work in a creative workshop where you can grow and help other writers grow along with you, we urge you to join this group.
What's new in Flash Fiction?
New members should check out the Welcome thread. Go ahead and introduce yourself. I also recommend you check out the articles on Flash Fiction as well as the example I've posted below (see LATEST DISCUSSIONS). And when you're ready to try your hand at a Flash Fiction piece, feel free to enter our current contest. :-)
If you have any questions, please post them in the thread named, funnily enough, "Questions" and I'll do my best to help you.
