What is your favorite fantasy series of all time?
I am currently reading The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, and it is rapidly becoming my favorite!

I have to say I love the Ranger's Apprentice books, by John Flannagan, myself, though I'm a general all around fantasy lover

Yeah, I love most fantasy, but WoT is my fav at the moment. I haven't read Ranger's Apprentice, I must check it out!

My favourite Fantasy series hands down is Dean Koontz's Frankenstein. That's a mixture of horror and science fiction. You've got cloning, mad scientists, immortal evil people, all kinds of stuff. I also like pretty much anything by Tad Williams.

I like mixture categories: Science Fiction / Fantasy / Horror would be my most favourite kind of reading. That's why I like Stephen King and Dean Koontz so much. They don't use fantasy so much, but they do use a lot of Science Fiction in their Horror works.

I have read some Stephen King, he is quite good. I have not read Dean Koontz's work yet, but I intend to at some stage.

I love a LOT of Fantasy books, but top of the pops right now is Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles, even though only two are published so far, and the third may not come out for eons. Love the Rangers' Apprentice, like JSimmons, and WoT was good, but I got pretty exasperated with Rand after about book three, and I'm having a lot of trouble tracking the others down at the moment.

Lord of the Rings is an all-time favourite too. But that's not terribly original is it? xP

Also, though it's not a series, "Among Thieves" by Douglas Hulick is one awesome fantasy in my books. To anyone who's read it, I'm a total Degan fan xD

Hehehe, what can I say, I'm a fantasy enthusiast xD

You should, they're awesome! The first one is my favourite - I think the second suffers from the dreaded Middle Book syndrome a bit.

Dragonlance is definitely one of them. But, honestly, I haven't been reading enough fantasy lately. The last fantasy series I read was Dragonlance. Now, if you could call it fantasy (I think it does fit in this genre), I'd have to mention Wolves of Beyond, by Kathryn Lasky (same author of Guardians of Ga'hoole; story takes place in the same world, too). It's a fantasy novel series where the main characters are wolves. While it is considered a children's series, I still think it is very elegantly written, very enjoyable, and sometimes even deep.

I favorite series is the Bartimaeus Trilogy, hence my name. I also like the book Graceling, thoough it is more obscure.

the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy by Tad Williams is a favourite of mine (re-reading it right meow!) as is War of the Flowers, also by Tad Williams. other high ranking fantasy works include the early R A Salvatore works featuring Drizzt, and most anything by Madeleine l'Engle.

the Dragon Riders of Pern books by Anne McCaffery... Which skirts the line of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

then the Darkover books, by Marrion Zimmer Bradley.. andother line skirter (saddly I own none of them as I borrowed them all from my aunt but she gave them to my cousin when she had to down size)

Yeah, I'm big into series reading. But

"No One noticed the Cat" By Anne Mccaffery is a great short fantasy story. *grin*

I am currently reading "A Name of the Wind" from the Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss and I LOVE IT!!! Can't wait to finish reading it and continue with the second installment.
The "Harry Potter" series will be my all-time favourite. I grew up reading them.
I liked the Ranger's Apprentice, as mentioned before and the "A Song of Ice and Fire".
I have many many more and can spend countless of hours speaking about them!

I love threads like this!

Shout out goes to those who love Wheel of Time! Definitely one of my favourite series' of all time. On the long side though (You have no idea how sad I was when Robert Jordan died).

However WoT for me is a shadow of a series compared to stuff by Raymond E. Feist. His first book Magician is my favourite book of all time

and believe me I've read a lot of books.

My favorite series would probably have to be the Back Company books by Glen Cook. Never have I cared so much about what happens to all the different characters, even the baddies.

I can't pick a favorite series! There's just too many to choose from. Though Brandon Sanderson has written some of my all time favorite ones. Such as Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive.

My favorite is the Mistborn trilogy! A great mix of heist action, battle scenes, evocative scenery and mythology, and political intrigue. Definitely worth a read.
