Apparently a few of you guys neglected to read the group description and intro post before you started posting here. Now that the Critiques group has been up for a couple of weeks, the mods and I are going to start cracking down on (i.e. locking and/or deleting) duplicate posts and other stuff that doesn't follow the group rules or the spirit of the group.
With that in mind, here are some simple rules for using this grow:
1. Please don't post "read my story" topics in this group. The group is aimed at serious critiques and reviews, not simply promoting your work,
2. If you have more than one work you'd like critiqued, try and post them in the same topic, if at all possible. If there is one work you need completely different assistance with, you may post that separately.
3. Make sure your topic titles and critique requests are descriptive, not just one word requests. If you only provide a vague request like "please read" or "I need feedback", you'll be given a warning to provide more detail or clarification on what you're looking for in terms of a critique. More than once and your request may be locked or deleted.
4. if you find a critique provided by another author to be helpful, please thumbs-up their response! (The same goes for unhelpful responses -- don't be afraid to thumbs-down them if they were off-topic or blatantly self-promotional.)
5. Please don't post entire works into comments in this group - it goes without saying that you should be posting works on the site normally and then including links to them for our group members to review and critique. This helps readability, and also allows you to get regular feedback on your work from other authors on the site who aren't necessarily members of this group. Also, it cuts down on spamminess and redundant content.
6.If you request a critique, please take few moments and provide a critique to someone else who's posted a request already! This is probably the most important rule, and it'll keep everyone in the group happy. :)
Thanks! We appreciate you all taking the time to read and follow the group rules. :)
