Anyway, years ago I started a story on another sight titled "The Shadow War". It had a simplistic premise: heroes banding together on a quest to defeat a dark lord. However, It was a story that I specifically made so that people would have fun with the characters growing and learning to get along, but there were plenty of darker moments thanks to the main antagonist.
It received some mild success, and for a while everything was fine, but then people started backing out, as real life was getting in the way and eventually everything ground to a halt. Still, I never gave up hope that the story would finish.
However, only two of us remained at this point: myself, and Rock XIII (who moved the story to this site if you're interested). He and I decided to start again, reboot the series or create a spiritual successor. So, I give unto you all: Warriors of Fate.
This is a collaborative work, and anyone interested is alright to join in. As a fan of the fantastic and the interesting, it is once again a fantasy story, but I'm willing to go steampunk if anyone really wants a setting with machines. Anyway, the story goes that there existed a powerful dark lord some hundreds of years ago. He ravaged the land and enslaved or destroyed any who stood in his way. The most powerful sorcerers in the world could not destroy him, they could only seal him away. His dark armies without a master, the Stygian hordes hid, only resurfacing now and again whenever they find easy targets. The people tried to rebuild, but they lived in terror that the Dark Lord would one day return, and stayed as far from his fortress, the Black Citadel, as possible.
Now, the Lord of Darkness stirs again... who will stand against him?
Anyway, like before, in the Shadow War, I will be using an old favorite of mine: Aria Kahner. She will be my character and this will also serve as a template for anyone else who wishes to join.
Name: Aria "Cadenza" Kahner
Nicknames: The Bandit Queen, The White Rose
Age: 17
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 113 lbs.
Physical Appearance: Dressed in the tattered rags of a peasant, Aria is a very unassuming person at first glance, but get closer and you'll realize she is actually quite cute. Her hair is red and her eyes an emerald green, and on her hip she carries a sword. She doesn't like shoes so she always travels barefoot. Sometimes wears an ugly grey cloak.
Personality: Despite being a bandit, Aria is a surprisingly cheerful and loveable person. However, inside of combat she shows her true nature: a fighter who will not let anything get in her way. The reason she acts differently when under pressure is unknown, but it is possible she suffers from a childhood trauma or she has a mental illness. Whichever the case, don't tick her off: it may very well be the last thing you ever do.
Backstory: Sorry, this is a plot point.
Weapons: Three foot long sword and throwing daggers.
Class: Rogue
Abilities: Aria is very agile and can doge most attacks with minimal effort, and also has a knack for making locks open. It is also mentioned by some that she possesses magical talent, but what she is capable of even she doesn't know.
Other: Aria has a weakness for sweets, specifically the custard filled bismarck. She will literally stop and fight her urges when she sees one.
Now for criteria:
This is a story made for fun, so let's all try and get along.
Remember this is a fantasy/steampunk setting. Things like aliens from outer space are not exactly smiled upon (but if you give me a convincing argument, I may be inclined to let it slide)
Let's try and keep this PG rated if we can, PG-13 at most.
I want flawed, emotionally gripping characters. No uber powerful ones (if you insist on an uber powerful, expect them to either be denied or end up on the bad guy roster).
Finally: This is my story. Try not to hijack it. You do, expect a nasty deus ex machina from me... and I actually have an arsenal of those. I do not like using them, but I will if it will get the story back on track.
Anyway, hope you enjoy what is to come! In case you're still curious about my first outing with "The Shadow War", here's the link:

Name: Kamouguchi Fujitsu (Surname, personal name)
Alias: Insanity Incarnate
Age: Unknown, but is estimated at around 250 years old, and looks around 19 or 20
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 176 lbs
Physical Appearance: Peachy skin, long face with a pointed chin. His eyes are a beautifully piercing blue, fairly wide. He has wavy mahogany hair, tied up in a rather poofy ponytail, but so he still has bangs. He is impressively muscular without having movement be a problem, but this fact is usually hidden by a cloak that is patched up with several clashing fabrics. Underneath that is a silk shirt with a pentagram pattern etched into it, something he calls "jeans" for pants, and bamboo sandals. Accessories include a cross necklace, a silver bracelet, trunk that's strapped to his back, and an ichigenkin.
Personality: Very volatile. He can only express extreme emotions, and can never be calm (though he has learned to fake it when need be). Most the time he's ecstatic/ really really happy and is easy to get along with. Although, if you get him upset, you will be broken. Because of his extremity of emotion, if he feels pain, he REALLY feels it. He also gets extremely depressed when stress builds up. Also, it should be noted that he is a complete and utter idiot in general (he doesn't even know how to count). While he can "like" a person, he cannot love.
Backstory: Fujitsu lost his entire clan to, assuming, an enemy clan, though historians don't know who did it for sure. The trauma split him in two entities, one is himself, Insanity Incarnate, the other, of which he views as a villain, is Sanity Incarnate. Fujitsu no longer cares about what happened then; he lives in the now, never thinking about the past nor the future, and spends his time wandering aimlessly throughout the world. He was once an emperor of a rather small country that got taken over by a neighboring country when he decided it would be fun to do nothing. He has made love to many a women, and has had about 23 children, having only met 4. To this day, nobody but the greatest historians know who he is due to him popping shortly in and out of history.
Weapons: His fists, chi, and an invisible swallow (invisible due to being infused with said chi) that is about 6 and a half feet long.
Primary Class: Martial Artist
Secondary Class: Swordsman
Abilities: Fujitsu, first and foremost, is considered to be an entity of the wind due to how fast he is and how it seems as if he's riding the wind. Fujitsu can move around attacks effortlessly, and the more momentum he gains, the stronger and faster he gets, making him able to shatter many materials with his fist in the long run of a battle. However, the faster he gets, the less balanced he becomes, and if he gets too fast, he can knock himself out by tripping and hitting the ground. He also knows 3 hidden pressure points on a person's body that can render them useless if struck. If he can get himself going fast enough, he can hit all three of them, infusing the points with his chi, in half a second, causing the person to instantly die and possibly explode. However, once again, that is really pushing himself, and would most likely trip before he got the momentum to do so (he has only succeeded once before). He can also use his blade to cut through the air and slash people at a distance.
Strengths: While he may be an idiot, he has an absurdly good instinct for battle. He is also akin to a steel wall, able to brush off onslaughts of physical attacks like they're nothing. It is worth noting that his chi usually helps protect him against most attacks, but even without it, his defense is formidable.
Weaknesses: Magic-based attacks. His chi is built specifically for physical attacks and defense, and provide no protection against them. In fact, his chi tries to absorb the attack as if it were physical, and due to the conservation of energy, all the raw power of the magic is sent through Fujitsu's body. His second weakness is logic and brains. He is easily outsmarted, sometimes even in a fight.

The possibilities are endless. This is a fantasy setting! Go crazy! :)
Also, do you have a preference on whether I do a boy or girl? Or does it matter?
Nicknames: Dragon Boy, Freak
Age: 19
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 115 lbs.
Physical Appearance: Tall and thin, almost wiry looking. His long, starlight black hair is pitch black, the tips died a first orange. His red piercing eyes hold a fire within. But if you look close enough, you can see the darkness hidden beneath. His skin looks a little like scales. He's not the most handsome man in the world, but he can turn a few heads.
Personality: Very dark and mysterious. Doesn't like talking to people, and when he does he seems very standoffish. He keeps to himself mostly, only talking to others when absolutely necessary. Because of this fact, he uses a lot of hand gestures to get his point across. When he does speak, it's usually a snide, rude comment. Sometimes he also teases people, but does it in a very non-enthusiastic/monotone way. Rarely cracks a smile, unless fighting the enemy.
Backstory: Drace grew up in a land that frowned upon dragons and anyone related. Because his grandfather was a dragon, he was always picked on at school. As he got older, it got worse. He was literally tortured by his fellow classmates, while his mom was forced to watch. If she tried to stop in anyway, she would be immediately executed. Drace never fought back. He always took his torment easily, slowly building his anger until the right moment presented itself. One day, he had enough. Barely able to control his rage, he attacked, using every weapon in his arsenal. Once the attack was over, he looked over the wreckage. In his fury, he had forgotten that his mother had been in the audience. There was not one survivor. Since that day, he has been calm and meticulous about who, when, and where to attack. He blames himself for his mother's death.
Weapons: His powers. Every once in a while, he'll pick up a bow & arrow, but if he's in the thick of battle he would rather let instinct take over.
Class: Dracomancer
Abilities: Shapeshifting, breathing fire, flying, and can grow any part of a dragon needed to fight.
Other: Drace's main weakness is family & friends. Since he did t have much of either in his early childhood, it kills him inside to see other people with their family and friends. This adds to his reluctance with talking to people.
Tell me if there is anything I need to change/ add.
Welcome aboard!

@starwarsfreak117 Give it a go!
Height: 6'3
Weight: 135
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Physical appearance: Tall and frail with skin that is almost golden at times. metallic eyes, and white hair.
Personality: Sharp mind and wit. Dark, almost sadistic. Very down to earth, tells things how they and doesn't much store in make-believe ideals like faith and hope. If something is ridiculous to him he will say it and doesn't care who he hurts. The only emotions he ever shows are anger, contempt, greed, lust. He will do anything, even betray his comrades, if he deems the best option. He ahtes appearing weak and will rarely accept help.
Backstory: As a younger man Rasitled took the test to become master-wizard. He was almost denied admittance to the test because of his extremely young age relative to wizards. He passed the test but at a cost: his health. THis doesn't affect his magic because magic is about will and emotion, both of which Raislted has in abundance. Now he cannot run for very long unless he aids himself with his magic, he is prone to sickness and is easily fatigued.
Weapons: A small dagger, His staff, his spellbooks (used to learn more spells not to hit people with) and his spells.
Name: Xeranad Lekard
Alias: Lord of Eternal Darkness
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 147 lbs.
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Race: ???
Physical appearance: At his height and stature, the Lord of Darkness seems like a lightweight, but in reality is the most powerful entity to ever exist. Dressed in white armor and black leather, a tattered cloak around his neck with a fur mane that looks like hellfire from a distance. He possesses snow white hair and his eyes are a terrifying white on black schlera (the part that is normally white), his left eye slitted, and in those eyes are a malevolent intelligence and savage nature. He wears a mask that hides his face, marked with sigils colored in blood.
Personality: Murderous, sociopathic, contemptuous, and demonic. The Lord of Darkness is a twisted and vile existence whose only desire is to twist and corrupt, and plunge the world in his darkness forever. He also possesses a rather dark sense of humor, often taking joy in the suffering of others. He cannot understand concepts such as friendship, or love, or even the simple joys of life, as to him, these things are not only foreign, but useless.
Backstory: No one really knows who or what the Dark Lord really is. Some say he was a powerful sorcerer who obtained so much power he sought to bring the world to it's knees. Others say he was a spirit corrupted by the greed and hatred of humanity, and became a dark reflection of it. No one knows the truth, and the Lord of Darkness prefers it thus. However, it is known that even the five most powerful wizards in the world could not kill him, only subdue him and trap his essence in the Realm of Chaos... presumably for eternity... until now.
Weapons: Carries a five foot long blood red zweihander sword, and a clawed gauntlet on his left arm that has a spear tipped chain attached.
Powers: Dimensional Magic. Xeranad is able to open dimensional rifts and use them to his advantage, allowing him to redirect attacks, trap opponents, and summon weapons and monsters. His most terrifying ability, however, is his ability to refract his own attacks with dimensional magic, making him able to strike in multiple places at once. To put simply, in the course of time it would take us to attack even once, Xeranad can attack up to five times.
