Attention grabber: Nobody will miss them. They grew up in the streets, little urchins of society devoid of love and affection. They learned the ways of the streets, and most importantly, of survival. But they held the key to another universe quite unlike their own. In this universe, they learned to battle, to hunt, and to weave magic.

I need collaborators for this idea. The main characters are orphans living in the streets. I want a variety of backgrounds for each child. Their age can be anything from 12 to 16 years old. For example, my character's parents died in a fire and he was raised by his alcoholic uncle who one night he disappeared on the streets of Paris and never came back.

Anyway, I was thinking of starting this with backstories for every character and what led them to be in that situation. Then someone seeks them out from the streets, persecuting them and whatnot. When our characters awake they find themselves no on the streets but in a very different place. They are introduced to a Master, who tells them their reason to be there. (Still figuring out what kind of reason and purpose. Anybody care to contribute to this?)

Anyway, they train, battle, do magic and everything possible to survive this world. Once their training is finished, they're sent to hunt down and kill a somebody, not knowing in the danger they got themselves into. It's kill or die in this hunt, and only one (or one group) can be the sole survivor.

Name: Quint Carrel
Age: 12 (age of abduction)
Appearance: Thin kid for his age. Has sharp blue eyes with black rims of weariness around them. His hair is a messy black, reaching down to his eyes. His fingers are always icy cold, blistered, and smudge with black oil.
Personality: A little dreamer who knows better than to expect too much from life. Quirky, quiet, and lonesome. He prefers to listen to the ticking of the clocks and play with small clockwork trinkets he smuggles from stores. He likes to build things and often gets frustrated when they fail to meet the purpose of its creation.

chimerakiller2, your backstory sounds great! Go ahead and use it, but decide the setting for your character. Mine will be in Paris ^.^
As for the time period, I was thinking more 1900s, nothing wayy into the present (our present) or wayy into the past. Samurais seem plausible in this time frame, so go ahead and use it!
